We enjoyed some of this beautiful weather today when we went outside to measure the sandbox. Mrs. Watson and her husband need some help! They are wanting to fill our sandbox with new sand. But, they don't know how much to get. That's where our group stepped in. We used the formula for volume today to find how much sand is needed to be bought to fill the remaining box with sand. Students worked in groups to measure the depth, height, and width in feet. Tomorrow, we will convert to cubic yards.

Thomas and Konnar came up with an efficient way of tracking the measurements. Konnar used the ruler and marked with pencil on the edge of sandbox where the ruler ended each time. Next, he would tell Thomas every time we measured a new foot. Last, Thomas would tally these in his notebook for a total number of feet.
