Gum Ball Math Take 2

A few weeks ago the class worked on a gum ball math activity as a whole class (they had to estimate how many gum balls they could collect on the playground and count them). Today, we reviewed this activity by doing it again. Students were arranged in multi-aged groups, estimated how many gumballs they could collect, then decided on an appropriate strategy to count the objects. Below are the group leaders with their estimation and exact number:

The groups had to figure out the difference. Ben's group was the winner with the lowest difference between estimation and exact count. We proposed a challenge to them to do after school-figure out how many gumballs we gathered as an entire class!
