Special Delivery!

Students in the space group had a special delivery from Commander Clifton at NASA. Commander Clifton is recruiting the help from some of our Stephens students to help in some space missions. But, before the students can BLAST OFF! they must plan and build their shuttles.

The three teams are:

Poseidon- Natalie, Savannah, Jackson, and Lindy

Constellation 24-Manny, Helen, Jeannie, and Eric

K.M. R. R.- Kedzie, Miles, Rebekah, and Reece

Soon teams will be creating their space shuttles before conducting missions. Feel free to send materials in with your child.

Our Solar System

What to do with our paper mache planets?
Well, first you get a big piece of paper.

Actually, nine foot lengths of Reece's feet.

Then, blue and white paint for the Milky Way and stars.
Finally, a lot of team work and PAINTING of course!
Don't forget the Black Hole...Thanks Manny.

Aubrielle Teaches a Lesson: Editing Short Clips into a Video

For Aubrielle's VERY last Independent Inquiry, she chose to teach the class how to edit short clips into a 2 minute video. She went to a public grocery store and filmed a variety of short clips. She modeled for the students how to edit in various ways. Then she allowed the students to work in small groups to create their own. She worked very hard to get them onto each netbook!

Here the students work in small groups while Aubrielle walks around answering questions.

Finally, we watched every groups video.

Blondie's Buddies

This week the 5th graders started work as Blondie's Buddies! Blondie is a miniature horse that belongs to Molly and her family and lives at the Stephens stables. The 5th graders will get to spend a lot of time with Blondie over the next few weeks of school. This week the girls learned all about how the stables run on a daily basis. They also got a chance to play with Blondie in the arena and learn how to groom her. This is an awesome opportunity for our 5th graders to learn what it takes to care for a horse!
